Masks aren't just worn for Covid prevention for some...

When I was at Fred Meyer's front inside entrance where the shopping carts are before entering the store this past Friday night, I smiled at an older white woman who was leaving. I had on my usual maximum protection re-usable mask with filters (my first mask I got when Covid first hit over 5 years ago) and she smiled and came by to chat with me on her way out. She had no mask on, but told me that if she wore her mask that would be her plan to rob the store because nobody would recognize her (she was joking). She then proceeded to tell how that when she wore her mask the last time she was at Fred Meyer, a couple of people said "Hi" and greeted her by name and recognized her so, there went that plan.

I think you'd have to wear more like these types of masks (shown above) to rob a store to NOT be recognized than Covid prevention masks as shown below:

  1. I find it interesting that people today still wear masks while driving alone or visiting the local grocery store. But as you have pointed out, each person's immune system is different. And once COVID is eradicated, something else is lingering in the shadows to emerge and cause havoc.  Thank you for reminding us to be ever vigilant.

    1. I think the ones that wear it while driving alone because maybe they drive for Uber or others around regularly where it'd be a nuisance to keep taking the mask on and off each time they are picking someone up. Besides, since a vehicle is a small space of trapped air (it's fall right now) so it's pretty cold and windows aren't usually open, it'd be better to keep the mask on the entire time one is driving others around (even between pick-ups and drop-offs) because the germs of the other person/people in the driver's vehicle stay in there with the lack of ventilation. And with regard to people wearing masks in grocery stores, technically you're supposed to wear them in all indoor covered spaces where you'll be around other people as that's how the virus is spread. There's a lesser risk when you're outdoors and NOT under a covered structure. Also, you may think who's going to go near me if you grocery shop alone, but if you go to self-check out, for example when you ring up your purchases, if you have any problems (i.e. price adjustments, items NOT ringing up properly, and coupons to give the cashier), they have to get physically close to you to assist you.
